A video circulated online the same morning showed the young man arriving at the café to apologize. In the footage, a woman, believed to be the victim’s mother, refused: “Please leave… It’s too late for an apology now!”
Speaking to the press, 27-year-old N.V.T admitted he was the “CEO” mentioned online. He said he and relatives of V. — the person who physically attacked the employee — had gone to the café to apologize, but the victim’s family declined.
A man claiming to be T.’s uncle told reporters that T. was mentally distressed after being rejected and heavily pressured by public opinion. “He was turned away when trying to apologize. On the way back, he came to my house to rest. Now he’s just sitting and writing something in his notebook. I’m really worried,” he said.
On September 17, around 2:30 p.m., at a café in Vinh Tuy Ward, a cashier was assaulted after asking customers not to smoke in a no-smoking area.
Witnesses reported that despite polite reminders, one member of the group approached the counter and struck the employee in the face, leaving him dazed and in pain. The victim was later taken for medical checks, and his family filed a complaint with Vinh Tuy Ward Police demanding legal action.
The case remains under investigation. The victim’s family has refused to accept any apology, insisting on legal accountability. Public opinion continues to strongly condemn violent behavior in public spaces.
